It’s been fourteen days since I’ve eaten solid food.  Fresh fruit juice, fresh vegetable juice, smoothies, Chai tea, coconut water, spring water, vegetable soup, Noni juice, rice milk and almond milk have made up my diet.

Detoxification and regeneration through diet can be quite a journey and one that is often misunderstood.  When the quality of the food coming into the body is of higher quality than the tissues which the body is currently made of, an interesting phenomenon happens:  the body begins to discard the lower grade materials and tissues to make room for the new, healthier materials and tissue.

For example, animal foods, meat,  and dairy are extremely difficult to digest.  Consuming large amounts of them can change the body to an acid ph which in turn can contribute to inflammation.  When a cleansing occurs, the wastes are often discarded faster than the body’s ability to eliminate them.  The result can be a “healing crisis” showing classic symptoms such as headaches, skin rashes, fever, colds, tiredness, weakness, bowel changes, frequent urination, nervousness, and chills.

These symptoms are actually a positive sign that the body is following the adage “out with the old and in with the new”!  The more you rest and sleep when the symptoms are present, the milder they are and the more quickly they are terminated.

Not only is my skin looking more translucent but also my eyes are clearer, thoughts more focused, weight has reduced 10 pounds and my energy level has increased.
